Minutes of the TFMC District 6 Fall Conference Gonzales, Texas, First Baptist Church
October l9, 20l3

President Phyllis Noonan called the meeting to order. She called upon the members present to repeat the Collect and following, sing the Federation Hymn. Herb Karnau directed and Virginia Kneisner accompanied.

Vida Burnett, president of the Gonzales Music Study Club, welcomed the members of District 6 with a warm greeting, and Johnana Clark, president of the New Braunfels Music Study Club responded.

President Noonan then recognized our distinguished guest from Rockdale, TFMC President Gloria Thrasher.

Lois Armor read the parliamentary statement. Since the secretary was unavailable, the minutes were not read. Herb Karnau read the treasurer's report. Shirley Spoon moved that the membership accept the executive committee's recommendation to approve the treasurer's report (copies of reports attached). Those present voted to accept the recommendation.

The president then called upon the officers to give their reports, beginning with her own. Vice-President Shirley Spoon read hers, followed by Historian Carol DuBose. Mrs. DuBose pointed out the District 6 History book which she had displayed on a table. Corresponding Secretary Virginia Kneisner gave her report.

The local club president's gave reports of their respective club's activities:

Vida Burnett for Gonzales Music Study Club

Johnana Clark for New Braunfels Music Study Club

Lois Armor for Etude Music Club in San Antonio

Phyllis Noonan (for Carolyn McColloch) for Wednesday Morning Music Club in Austin

Mary Thomason, District 6 Festival Chair, reported on the upcoming District Festival to be held in San Marcos on February 22, 2014 and indicated the need for volunteers to help in the actual planning and development of this year's Festival.

President Noonan announced the Nomination Committee for the 2015-2017 officers will be Barbara Houde of the New Braunfels Music Study Club, Mary Eck of the Etude Music Club of San Antonio, and Laurel Ince of the Music Study Club cf Gonzales.

There being no other business, the president had the members move to the Baptist sanctuary where an excellent recital was presented by Mrs. Olga Rua from New Braunfels.

Virginia Kniesner gave an account of an obituary for Rose Taylor, whose husband is a member of the Wednesday Morning Music Club'

The Gonzales club gave a luncheon for the group, following Mrs Kniesner's blessing. Mrs. Thrasher talked about the plans for the up-coming TFMC Spring Convention in Corpus, reporting that 20% of the silent auction this year would be seed money for the 100 anniversary convention in Brownwood in 2015. She reported that TFMC would also need funds to help the South Central Region in hosting the NFMC Board meeting which will be held in Oklahoma City in 2016.

Newly appointed State lnsignia Chairman Mary Loe Connelly reported on the various things that could be ordered through the NFMC web-site.

Herb Karnau gave the credentials committee report, and Sue Breuer read the courtesy resolutions.

Members of District 6 sang "The Gift of Song," by Lana Bailey, led by Carol DuBose, accompanied by Phyllis Noonan.

The meeting was adjourned.
